Hey everyone, I’m really excited to share my recent project where I integrated a mood barometer into my smart home setup. The idea came from my wife, who wanted a fun way for everyone to express their mood when they come home. We decided on a simple system using Memoji pictures, and it’s been a hit!
The Setup
I created a dashboard with four Memoji options, each representing a different mood: happy, neutral, sad, and surprised. When someone taps on their chosen Memoji, the dashboard updates to reflect their mood. It’s a great way to start a conversation or set the tone for the evening.
Smart Lighting Integration
Taking it a step further, I integrated this mood system with my smart lighting. If someone selects ‘happy,’ the lights dim to a warm, inviting setting. If ‘sad’ is chosen, the lights adjust to a softer, more calming ambiance. It’s been surprisingly effective in setting the mood without anyone having to manually adjust the lights.
Challenges and Solutions
One challenge I faced was ensuring the Memoji selection was seamless. I had to tweak the automation a few times to make sure the dashboard updated instantly. But once it was sorted, it worked like a charm!
