Morning Weather Announcement and Device Management Tips

Good morning, everyone! I’ve been experimenting with creating a morning weather announcement using text-to-speech automation, and I’d love to share my experience and ask for some advice.

I’m using Rule Machine to play the weather forecast on my Sonos speaker. The idea is to get something similar to when you ask Google, ‘What’s the weather today?’ Ideally, I’d like to pull the weather data from an external service and convert it into a TTS string. I’ve tried a few weather apps and sites, but I haven’t found a web service that returns the TTS string in the format I need. Does anyone know of any services or tools that could help with this? Maybe there’s a way to convert Google’s weather result into a playable format on Sonos? Any examples or guidance would be greatly appreciated, especially since I’m still new to this!

On another note, I’ve noticed that my list of devices in Home Assistant is getting quite large. Some devices are no longer in use, and I’m wondering if it’s safe to delete the known_devices.yaml file to clean things up. I’ve heard that deleting this file might cause duplicates, but I’d like to understand the risks better before proceeding. Has anyone else had success with this approach?

Lastly, I’ve been exploring system repair warnings on HAOS. My setup is running on a Raspberry Pi 4 with Home Assistant 2023.3.3. I’m not entirely sure how to resolve these warnings, and I’d love to hear if others have encountered similar issues and how they fixed them.

If anyone has tips or solutions for these challenges, I’d be really grateful! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other out.
