Hey everyone! I wanted to share a fun and practical project I recently completed using Wyze devices. I’ve always loved the idea of having my stairs light up when someone approaches, and after some research, I decided to go with the Wyze Sense motion sensors and a Wyze Plug to control an LED strip. Here’s how it all came together!
First, I installed the LED strip under a small lip along my stairs. It was surprisingly easy and only cost about $25 for a 32-foot strip. I then plugged the LED strip into a Wyze Plug, which I paired with two Wyze Sense motion detectors—one at the top of the stairs and another at the bottom. The setup allows the lights to activate when motion is detected either coming up or going down the stairs.
One of the best features is the ability to customize the timing through the Wyze app. I set it so the lights stay on for 30 seconds after detecting motion, giving plenty of time to navigate safely. The RGB capability of the LED strip is a nice bonus too—I can change the color to match different occasions or just my mood!
My wife absolutely loves how it looks. It adds a touch of elegance to our home, and it’s incredibly practical, especially during the evenings when natural light is limited. The integration with Wyze’s updated time-of-day controls has been seamless, ensuring the lights only activate during the hours we need them.
This project was a great way to enhance our home’s safety and aesthetics without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for a similar setup, I highly recommend giving Wyze devices a try—they’ve been reliable and easy to work with. Happy tinkering everyone! ![]()
