Hi everyone! I have a smart lighting setup in my entryway that’s been working beautifully, but there’s one issue I’m hoping to resolve. Let me share my setup and the problem I’m facing:
Setup:
- Philips Hue lights
- Philips Hue motion sensor
- Two Philips Hue wall switches
How It Works:
I’ve configured the motion sensor to turn the lights on when it detects movement, but only if the ambient light is below a certain threshold. The wall switches allow manual control, which is handy for guests or when I’m just moving through quickly.
The Issue:
When I manually turn off the lights using the wall switch, especially while exiting the room, the motion sensor often reacts to the final movement of closing the door and turns the lights back on. This is a bit frustrating, especially late at night when I want the lights to stay off.
What I’ve Tried:
- Adjusting the motion sensor sensitivity
- Fine-tuning the light threshold settings
The Request:
Does anyone have tips or workarounds to prevent the motion sensor from overriding the manual switch-off? I’d love to maintain the convenience of the motion sensor while ensuring the lights stay off when I turn them off manually.
Thanks in advance for your advice! I’m excited to hear your suggestions and learn from your experiences with similar setups.
