Motion Sensor Automation Issue: Lights Turn Off Too Soon

Hi everyone, I’m having a bit of trouble with my motion sensor automation and I was hoping someone could help me figure it out. I recently set up a smart lighting system in my kitchen using a motion sensor and a Wemo light switch. The idea was that when I walk into the kitchen, the lights turn on, and after 10 minutes of no motion, they turn off automatically. It seemed straightforward, but it’s not working as expected.

I initially thought that if the motion sensor detected me moving around, it would reset the 10-minute timer. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’ll be working in the kitchen, and suddenly the lights turn off, leaving me in the dark. The only way to get them back on is to wait for the cooldown period or manually turn them on again. It’s pretty frustrating because I want the lights to stay on as long as I’m in the room.

I tried setting up two separate automations: one to turn the lights on when motion is detected and another to turn them off after 10 minutes of no motion. But the result was the same. I’m wondering if there’s a different approach or if I’m missing something in the setup. Maybe there’s a way to have the motion sensor continuously reset the timer while I’m moving around?

I really appreciate any advice or suggestions you might have. I want my kitchen lights to work seamlessly without me having to constantly intervene. Thanks in advance for your help!
