Hello everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of MQTT and home automation lately, and I’m really excited about the possibilities it opens up. I’ve set up a few ESPresense devices to track who’s home and where they are, which has been a fun project. However, I’ve run into a bit of a snag. The MQTT server I’m using is providing sensor data, but I can’t seem to connect these sensors to specific people in Home Assistant. Does anyone have experience with converting MQTT sensors into device trackers? I’d love to hear your thoughts or any tips you might have. ![]()
On another note, I’ve been exploring ways to automate my hot water system using Selenium. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I managed to create a script that can perform actions on the system’s web portal. Now, I’m trying to figure out how to pull temperature data from the portal and display it in Hubitat. I’m considering using a Google Sheet as an intermediary, but I’m hoping there’s a more seamless way to do this without relying on IFTTT. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I’m also curious if anyone else has encountered issues with device communication after moving their VeraLite setup. I had everything working smoothly until I relocated the device, and now it’s not communicating properly. I’ve tried healing the network and reconfiguring the device, but no luck so far. If anyone has faced a similar issue and found a solution, I’d be thrilled to hear about it.
Lastly, I’m looking into porting Home Assistant to a custom Linux-based device for a project. I’m wondering if it’s feasible to run only the HA Core (Python layer) on this device instead of the full stack. Any insights or starting points would be invaluable. Thanks in advance for your help and advice! ![]()
