My Aqara Smart Home Setup

Hi there!

Wanted to share my Aqara/Apple smart home system here. My setup will never be complete as I’m always adding/changing stuff :face_with_peeking_eye: I currently own 25 devices all around my house. I won’t go too much into details for what each device is setup to do, for obvious security concerns, specially since I’ve recently caught thieves on my G4 doorbell. :grimacing:

Here’s a breakdown:

Basement

  • Valve Controller T1
  • Vibration Sensor T1

Laundry Room

  • Water Leak Sensor T1
  • Vibration Sensor T1

Doorway

  • Doorbell G4
  • Door and Window Sensor T1
  • Wireless Mini Switch T1
  • Vibration Sensor T1

Hallway

  • Motion Sensor P1
  • Temperature and Humidity Sensor T1

Bathroom

  • Temperature and Humidity Sensor T1
  • Water Leak Sensor T1

Living Room

  • Hub M1S Gen 2
  • Motion Sensor P1
  • Smoke Detector
  • Door and Window Sensor T1
  • TVOC Air Quality Monitor

Dining Room

  • Climate Sensor W100

Kitchen

  • LED Strip T1 (4m)
  • Motion Sensor P1
  • Vibration Sensor T1
  • Water Leak Sensor T1

Server Room

  • Hub M3

Outside

  • Smart Plug (EU)
  • G5 Pro

My G4 doorbell is set up in the Apple Home app and is recording to cloud. When it detects people or lingering it also sends a notification. Everything that happens at the front door is immediately pushed to our iPhones.

There’s also a neat notification pop-up on my Apple TV when someone rings the bell!

TIP: You can name faces stored in the Home app so each time a familiar person is at the door, it will send you a notification with their name instead of a general message.

I’m also running an HP EliteBook laptop in my server room where I’m running Home Assistant along with a Plex Server and a huge NAS :eyes:

Next in cart is double G5 cameras for the outside, double G100’s (or the E1) to monitor the inside of my home, another Door and Window Sensor T1 for the basement and when I swap the front door the mighty Smart Door Lock D100.

I hope Aqara’s team decides to do Cyber Monday early :joy:

What does the Vibration Sensor T1 add at that location?
In my doorway it would get a workout everyday.

Every vibration sensor is installed on a window frame. It’s for cases if someone were to break a window or try to pry it open.
