I recently decided to upgrade my home heating system by installing an Ecobee thermostat. The setup process was straightforward, and I was impressed by the app’s user-friendly interface. However, I encountered an interesting challenge when trying to set custom temperature separation points for my Ecobee thermostat using Hubitat’s thermostat scheduler app and rule machine. I wanted to set the separation to less than five degrees, but the thermostat kept reverting to the default five-degree separation when Hubitat pushed the command. Manually setting it at the thermostat worked fine, but the automatic override was frustrating. After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that adjusting the rule machine’s logic slightly resolved the issue. It was a bit of a puzzle, but solving it gave me a deeper appreciation for the thermostat’s flexibility. I’m now enjoying precise temperature control, and it’s been a great addition to my smart home setup. ![]()
