Hi everyone! I just wanted to share my incredible experience with home automation. It all started about a year ago when I decided to dive into this fascinating world. I began with a simple setup using Hass.io on a Raspberry Pi and a Z-Wave thermostat. It was a steep learning curve, but I quickly realized the potential of automating my home.
Over time, I upgraded my setup by moving to a more powerful Ubuntu/Docker server, which allowed me to run Node-Red for automations. This was a game-changer as it gave me more flexibility and processing power. However, I faced some challenges with Bluetooth connectivity, which I eventually resolved by creating a hybrid environment with a separate Pi for Bluetooth and Z-Wave.
Last weekend, I took it a step further by reconfiguring everything. I migrated my Home Assistant setup back to the Pi, using Zwave2MQTT for Z-Wave integration. On my Ubuntu server, I installed a MySql container to handle data recording, freeing up the Pi for other tasks. This setup has been amazingly smooth, and I’m thrilled with the performance.
Now, my home is a seamless integration of various systems. I use MQTT to connect non-HA compatible devices, and all my automations run smoothly through Node-Red. It’s incredibly satisfying to see everything work together so harmoniously. I just wanted to share my success story and express my gratitude to the community for all the support and resources that made this possible. Cheers to the future of smart homes! ![]()
