I recently set up my home lighting controls using aeon Z-Wave in-wall micro controllers paired with Lutron Pico button controllers. At first, I was nervous about the integration, especially since there’s no physical switch connected to the aeon controller. If the Lutron bridge or hub failed, I’d lose control of the lights via the Picos. Additionally, with a cloud-based hub solution, I anticipated latency issues, especially with simple automation tasks.
To my delight, the setup has been flawless. Over the past three months, I’ve installed this system in over 30 locations without a single issue. The response time is fast and consistent, and the system hasn’t failed once. The best part is the flexibility of the Lutron integration in Hubitat. Each Pico button can have its own pushed and/or held action using the built-in button controller app, allowing for complex automation scenarios beyond just controlling the local light.
I even exceeded the 50-device limit on the Lutron bridge, but Hubitat’s support for multiple bridges resolved the issue seamlessly. This setup has been a game-changer for my home automation needs, and I’m thoroughly impressed with Hubitat’s reliability and versatility.
