My Experience with the Wyze Cam Pan: A Mixed Bag

I recently got my hands on the Wyze Cam Pan, and I must say, it’s been an interesting experience. While I was initially excited about the promise of seamless motion detection and instant notifications, I’ve noticed a few quirks that have left me a bit puzzled.

First off, the setup process was surprisingly smooth. The app guided me through everything, and I was up and running in no time. The camera’s ability to track movement is impressive, and the video quality is top-notch. However, here’s where things get a bit tricky.

I’ve noticed that the camera doesn’t trigger notifications or start recording immediately upon detecting motion. Instead, it seems to wait until the motion has been ongoing for a while. This delay is a bit concerning, especially if you’re using it for security purposes. For instance, if someone were to tamper with the camera, there might not be enough time to capture the incident.

Another thing I’ve observed is that the footage uploaded to the cloud often starts just as the motion stops. This means I end up with short clips that don’t always show the full picture. It’s almost as if the camera is waiting for the motion to stop before it decides to record, which isn’t ideal.

On the plus side, the integration with Alexa has been seamless. I can easily check the live feed or adjust the camera’s settings using voice commands. The app itself is user-friendly and provides a good overview of all my connected devices.

I’m curious to know if others have experienced similar issues with the Wyze Cam Pan. Is this a common problem, or is there something I might be missing in the settings? I’d love to hear from anyone who has found a workaround or has tips on how to optimize the camera’s performance.
