For the past four years, I’ve been building my smart home around Apple Home. My very first smart device was a smart lock—though it wasn’t exactly the one I wanted. It worked fine and never gave me trouble, but as new locks came out over the years, I kept waiting for the one that truly checked every box.
Aqara has become a huge part of my smart home setup, so when they announced the U400, I knew immediately that this was finally the lock that would replace my old one. And wow—the U400 did not disappoint. It actually exceeded my expectations. I’m genuinely in love with this lock.
My only “regret” is that I bought it a little too quickly, because later they released the deluxe version (the one Apple sells). To be fair, the only real differences are the more premium materials and an extra battery—the tech inside is the same.
The UWB feature is a total game changer, and Aqara didn’t stop there. They packed everything into this lock. Now I’ve got my eye on their upcoming doorbell. My current doorbell is the most inconsistent device in my entire setup, so I’m hoping Aqara works their magic once again.
For the life of me, I cannot find a good comparison of the models, and which model is being sold at the various resellers.
The U400 manual and FAQ indicates there are the DL-D06E & DL-D016E is PC and PET. The DLD06D & DL-D16D changes the touchpanel to PMMA. The DL-D17D & DL-D15D have PMMA touch panel and the metal pieces are upgraded to electroplated zinc.
Now… please show me where these model numbers are shown in any of the retailer’s sites.
The apple site lists theirs as the premium kit and gives mfg and UPC numbers (Mfr. Part Number: AD051USS03 UPC or EAN No.: 6975833358571)
The Aqara amazon store does not have any model / mfg/ or UPC numbers that i could see. The lock i received from Amazon was the DL-D16E
Best buy does list their model as the DL-D06D
Am I just missing the model numbers on the aqara amazon store and apple site?
