My Govee Garage Lighting Setup and Automation Tips

Hi everyone! I’ve been really impressed with my Govee garage lighting setup, and I wanted to share my experience and some tips for anyone looking to automate their garage lights. :fire_engine::sparkles:

First, I wanted my garage door to open automatically when I pull in. I tried a few methods, including geofencing and Bluetooth beacons, but the best solution I found was using a combination of geofencing and a reliable Bluetooth beacon. It works seamlessly most of the time, and I love how it saves me from fumbling with my keys in the dark! :unlock::electric_plug:

For the lighting itself, I went with Govee LED strips under the toe kick. They’re super bright and have a sleek look that complements my epoxy floor. I’ve also been exploring Zigbee integration for better automation. If you’re considering Zigbee strips, I’d recommend the Sengled options—they’ve been reliable for me so far! :bulb::electric_plug:

One thing I struggled with was getting the lights to turn on instantly with motion. After some research, I switched to Zigbee strips and used them with my Inovelli dimmer. It made a huge difference in responsiveness! :arrows_counterclockwise::zap:

I’d love to hear from others—what lighting setups or automation tips have worked well for you? :clapper::bulb:
