Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience with setting up RaspberryMatic alongside OpenHAB. It’s been quite a learning curve, but I’m thrilled with the progress so far.
I started by installing RaspberryMatic 3.75.6 on an old Raspberry Pi 3, aiming to replace my HomeGear setup for Homematic and HM-IP devices. The installation itself went smoothly, but I ran into some issues when trying to integrate it with OpenHAB 4.1.2 on a separate Raspberry Pi 4. Specifically, the Homematic addon binding wasn’t working as expected.
After hours of troubleshooting, I realized that the firewall settings might be the culprit. I opened up the necessary ports and disabled authentication, but the problem persisted. I even considered whether the lack of an RF module on the RaspberryMatic could be causing the issue, though I believe that shouldn’t affect the addon binding.
I stumbled upon several community discussions suggesting firewall configurations, but I felt like I had already exhausted all those options. It made me wonder if there were additional Fritzbox router settings I hadn’t considered. I’m still a bit stuck here, but I’m determined to figure it out with the help of this amazing community.
On a lighter note, I also wanted to share a success story. I recently set up a motion sensor-triggered lighting system using the Motion and Mode app. It worked flawlessly for months until recently, when one of the lights started behaving unpredictably—it wouldn’t turn off consistently. It was a bit puzzling, but after some digging, I realized it might be missing the shutoff command. I’m still exploring solutions, but it’s been a great learning experience in debugging automation rules.
If anyone has encountered similar issues or has tips for optimizing automation rules, I’d love to hear your insights! Let’s continue to support each other in this fantastic journey of home automation. ![]()
