My Journey with Smart Home Automation: Trials, Tips, and Triumphs

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experiences with integrating various smart home devices and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. :rocket:

Starting with the Plugwise Anna app, I initially faced some confusion when it seemed to disappear from my Home app store. After some research, I realized it was a compatibility issue post-upgrade. Switching to the Plugwise app helped, though I still miss some features. It’s been a learning curve, but I’m glad I stuck with it!

On the firmware front, the Samsung Connect Home update was a smooth process. The improvements in device health reporting and bug fixes have made my system more reliable. I especially appreciate the added support for Z-Wave devices—it’s been a game-changer for my setup.

One challenge I tackled was setting up a statistics sensor to track the maximum power usage of my MasterTub over 24 hours. Initially, I struggled with the max_age and sampling_size settings. After some trial and error, increasing the sampling_size to 240 gave me the accuracy I needed. It’s rewarding to see the data now reflects the actual power spikes, especially during cleaning cycles!

I’d love to hear how others have optimized their statistics sensors or tackled similar issues. The community support has been invaluable, and I’m excited to contribute my experiences back to the group. :handshake:

Happy automating, and here’s to many more smart home victories! :tada:
