My Journey with Smart Lighting and Govee Products

I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of making my home smarter, and over the past few months, I’ve taken some big steps toward that goal. One of the most exciting additions has been my Govee products. I’ve recently purchased the Govee flannel blanket and the Govee Diffuser, both of which have exceeded my expectations. The flannel blanket is incredibly soft, and the diffuser adds such a cozy ambiance to my room. I can’t wait to see what other products they come out with in the future!Earlier this year, I decided to upgrade my lighting setup. I’ve been using Govee RGB lights for a while now, and they’ve been a game-changer. The ability to customize colors and create different scenes has really transformed my space. I’ve also been experimenting with string lights, which I recently unboxed and set up. They’ve added a nice touch of warmth to my living area. However, not everything has been smooth sailing. I’ve encountered a few bumps along the way. For instance, I struggled with getting my ZigBee devices to connect reliably. After some research and help from the community, I discovered that the issue might be related to the routing in my ZigBee network. It turns out that using application priority routes could potentially improve the connectivity, though I’m still exploring this option.Another challenge I faced was with my Shelly devices. I noticed that they would occasionally disconnect from the cloud, which was frustrating. After some troubleshooting, I realized that the issue might be with the DHCP settings on my router. Once I adjusted those, the problem seemed to resolve itself, at least temporarily. It’s a bit concerning, but I’m hopeful that future firmware updates will address this.I’ve also been exploring different automation rules. One of my goals is to create a system that activates my wall heater in the bathroom during specific times of the day. I tried setting this up using Simple Automation Rules, but I ran into some limitations. I was only able to set up one time frame, and I couldn’t rename the rule. I ended up creating separate rules for each time frame, which works, but it’s a bit clunky. I’d love to see more flexibility in this area.In addition to lighting and heating, I’ve been looking into smart plugs and switches. I’ve been eyeing the Leviton VP0SR-1LZ wireless switch, which seems like a cost-effective option. I’m curious to know if others have had success integrating this switch with their smart home systems.Overall, my journey with smart home technology has been both rewarding and challenging. The support from the community has been invaluable, and I’m grateful for the wealth of knowledge and advice available here. I’m excited to continue exploring and expanding my smart home setup. If anyone has tips or recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
