Hi everyone, I wanted to share my smart home journey over the past two years. It all started with a simple Google Home Mini and a smart bulb, but it’s grown into something amazing! ![]()
Over time, I’ve integrated a variety of devices, including Z-Wave switches, Zigbee sensors, and even a smart garage door. Here’s a quick overview of my setup:
- Lighting: 6 Honeywell Z-Wave switches and 3 Eufy smart switches
- Security: 6 Xiaomi door sensors and 2 Aqara motion sensors
- Climate: Nest thermostat and Doorbell camera
- Entertainment: 5 Google Home Minis and a Vizio soundbar
- Automation: All managed through Home Assistant with custom automations
One of my favorite features is how my porch lights automatically dim at sunset and turn off before sunrise. It’s so convenient and energy-efficient! ![]()
I’ve also set up motion sensors to control lights and even monitor my freezer door to prevent food spoilage. Speaking of which, my kids will get a notification if they leave the freezer open too long—parenting hack approved! ![]()
Looking ahead, I’m excited to add soil moisture sensors for smarter watering and a chore tracker to distribute tasks around the house. The possibilities are endless! ![]()
If anyone has questions or wants tips on integrating specific devices, feel free to ask. Happy smart home building! ![]()
