Hey everyone, I wanted to share my journey of setting up a smart home using Govee and Homematic. It’s been a fun and educational process, and I’d love to hear how others are approaching similar setups!
I started with Govee because of their sleek designs and affordability. I’ve been using their string lights and smart plugs for a while now, and they’ve really transformed my home. The ability to control everything through my phone is amazing, especially during the holidays when I can set up festive lighting without any hassle.
Recently, I decided to integrate Homematic into my setup. I was drawn to its reliability and the extensive range of devices it offers, from motion sensors to smart thermostats. The integration process wasn’t too bad, though I did run into a few bumps along the way. For instance, getting the motion sensors to work seamlessly with my Govee lights required some tweaking in Node-RED. But with a bit of research and some helpful tips from this community, I got it sorted!
One thing I’m particularly proud of is setting up an automation where my outdoor lights turn on automatically at sunset and off at sunrise. It’s such a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in convenience. Plus, it’s been a great way to save energy.
