Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into smart lighting for the past few months, and I wanted to share my setup and some tips I’ve picked up along the way. 
Setup Overview:
I’ve got a mix of Philips Hue, Shelly, and Tasmota devices around my home. The goal was to create a seamless lighting experience that’s both energy-efficient and easy to control. Here’s how I did it:

** Philips Hue as the Backbone:**
I started with the Hue system because of its reliability and integration with HomeKit. The Hue Play HDMI Sync Box has been a game-changer for syncing lights with my TV shows and movies!

Adding Shelly Devices:
For areas where I wanted more affordable options, I went with Shelly switches and plugs. They’re perfect for controlling my outdoor lights and adding some smart functionality to my kitchen appliances.

Tasmota for Customization:
Some of my lights were converted to Tasmota firmware to take advantage of advanced features like color transitions and schedules. It’s been a fun way to experiment with different lighting effects!
Automation Tips:
- Scene-Based Lighting: I’ve set up scenes for different times of the day—morning wake-up lights, evening relaxation modes, and nighttime routines. It’s amazing how much these small automations improve my daily life!
- Motion Sensors Integration: Pairing my lights with motion sensors has reduced energy waste significantly. Lights automatically turn on when I enter a room and dim after a few minutes of inactivity.
- Voice Control: Using Siri shortcuts, I can control my lights with simple voice commands like “Goodnight” or “Morning Coffee.” It’s so convenient!
Challenges and Solutions:
One thing I struggled with was getting all devices to work smoothly together. Some devices had compatibility issues, but using Home Assistant as a central hub helped bridge the gaps. I also had to tweak some settings in the HomeKit app to ensure everything was responsive. 
Final Thoughts:
Smart lighting has transformed my home into a more comfortable and efficient space. It’s been a rewarding project, and I’m excited to see how much further I can push the boundaries with these devices!
