My Successful Journey with Smart Lighting Automation

I’ve been on a fascinating journey setting up smart lighting automation in my home, and I wanted to share my experiences and some tips that might help others. :rocket:

Initially, I faced some challenges with my Ecolink PIR Motion Sensor. It worked perfectly when I walked into the room and left, but if I stayed too long, it wouldn’t re-trigger the lights. After some research, I realized this was due to the sensor’s PIR technology, which struggles to detect motion when someone is already in the room. I decided to switch to a different sensor that uses a combination of PIR and microwave technology, and it made a huge difference! :dart:

Another issue I encountered was with my Hue lights not updating correctly with Home Assistant. The lights would turn off in front of me, but the switch in HA would still show them as on. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that adjusting the automation timing and ensuring proper state reporting settings fixed the problem. Now, my lights behave exactly as I want them to! :bulb:

One of my favorite setups is using Govee LED lights in my kitchen. They’re not only energy-efficient but also incredibly customizable. I’ve grouped them into top and bottom sections, which allows me to create different lighting scenarios depending on the time of day. In the evenings, I enjoy a warm, calming glow, while during the day, they provide bright, white light. :star2:

A tip I’d like to share is to experiment with different sensors and devices. What works for one person might not work for another, and it’s all about finding the right combination for your space. Also, don’t hesitate to dive into the settings and automation rules—there’s so much you can do with just a little bit of tweaking! :wrench:

If anyone has questions or needs advice, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to help and learn from others’ experiences! :hugs:
