New convert to a Smart Home

As a total newbie, I have taken some very small steps in creating a Smart Home. Using an Aqara M3 Hub, FP300 Presence Sensor and two GU10 lightbulbs, I have converted the hallway in my apartment to have the lights come on when anyone enters the room. The hallway has no windows so no natural light, so even passing through the hall to visit the bathroom required me to manually switch the lights on.
The selected equipment is probably overkill for my modest requirements, but who knows what will grow from here.

Hi @A4DJL
Nice setup for a start!
I would recommend to go for a smart door lock at next! Where are you located?u200 or U400 is a good choice :enqjol2bgmcitcrmcmgdyz_61:

You have a great foundation with the M3 Hub. You should be able to go in any direction you want. Hardwire the M3 if you can.

Hi there. I am in UK where I believe the U400 is not readily available nor compatible with UK deadlock systems. I will have a look at the U200.
Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for the post. I assume by hardwire, you mean Ethernet, which I intend to do once I have decided on the optimum location for the hub. I don’t think I will need the IR Blaster capability.

Yes , the U200 should work there - if you are not sure if your door works with the U200 @UKAndyC can help

Thanks for the tag @DEChrisE , @A4DJL I also agree that the M3 is better hardwired and also in your settings, turn on LAN mode. For a little context for you, I have a large living room, kitchen, hallway, 2 large cupboards off the hallway, a large entrance with large cupboard in there that I use as a parcel room. Upstairs I have 2 bedrooms, bathroom, large landing with a large cupboard.

I have 1 M3 hub in the living room under my tv and it reaches everything in my house.

As fo the lock, yes the U200 is a great lock. BUT, since you’re just getting into the smart home, without saying too much, since you are in the UK, I would maybe wait just a couple of months for a smart lock.
