New Govee Doorbell Camera Experience and Query

I recently purchased the new Govee doorbell camera, VDB770, and I must say, it’s a significant upgrade from my previous SkyBell. The picture quality is much better, and the false motion alerts have been greatly reduced. The field of view is also improved, which is a huge plus for monitoring my front porch effectively. Overall, I’m very pleased with this new addition to my smart home setup.

However, I have one concern that I hope the community can help me with. When I’m away from home and receive a push notification on my iPhone 11 Pro indicating motion or a button press, it takes approximately 6-8 seconds for my phone to connect to the doorbell and display the live feed. Adding to this, there’s about a 5-second delay from when the doorbell initially detects motion to when the notification is sent to my phone. This results in a total delay of around 11-13 seconds from detection to being able to interact with the person at the door.

I understand that some delay is inevitable, but this seems quite long. Is this normal? I’d really appreciate it if someone could provide some insight or suggest ways to optimize this process. Maybe there are settings I haven’t explored yet or additional configurations that could help reduce the latency.

On a positive note, I’ve been experimenting with the different lighting modes and preset scenes, and they’ve added a nice touch to my home’s security setup. I’m also curious to see how the device performs during different weather conditions, especially with the built-in night vision.

If anyone from Govee is reading this, I’d love to hear if there are any plans to address latency issues in future firmware updates. In the meantime, I’ll keep troubleshooting and sharing my findings with the community. Thanks for your help and insights!
