My understanding is that Aqara gives forum users early access to some products? Is that true? If so, how do you get notified when early access becomes available?

I think some of the early access and beta programs are announced directly on the forum, so it is probably worth keeping an eye on the Featured and Latest sections.

Thanks. I see the early “trial” access to the FP300 was posted here. Is that the form that early access usually takes, as a ‘trial’, with a list of requirements for access? Or is it sometimes access to a completed (non-trial) product?

This is the format, yes. Think of it like the beta before launch. The devices go through internal testing and private betas, but the trials are offered occasionally (it’s a newer thing) before a device officially launches to give a chance for a wider test base.

Best way is to be active in the forum ! And of course you have the chance to get early access to products! And even for a reduced price
