New M3 User Questions About Clustering and Matter With POE

Hi. I just installed my new M3 hub. I have 2 M1S hubs, and several Aqara Zigbee accessories. I’m having some issues.

First, I’m hoping to do the hub clustering thing, instead of a full migration of all my accessories. It seems like it’s supposed to do this automatically, but it’s not doing it for some reason. My M3 is on ethernet POE and my M1S hubs are on wifi. Does that matter? I wouldn’t think it should.

Second, I’m trying to add the M3 via Matter to Smartthings, but it just freezes on the page where it says “Check the manual and prepare your device”. The manual doesn’t provide any further steps. I thought I would try putting the M3 in pairing mode in the usual way with Aqara products, by holding down the button for 8 second, but all that does is reset the network and disconnect it from the Aqara app! What’s the right way to do this?

Third, I also have Alexa and my Aqara stuff is connected to it using the Aqara skill so I can take full advantage of controlling my lightstrips. Will Alexa automatically bring the M3 hub in, or is there something I need to do to make that happen?

My two M1S hubs joined the cluster after being rebooted. So that’s resolved, but my other two questions still stand. Thanks in advance

Regarding the second question, do you have SmartThings Hub that supports Matter?

The third question, you can add the Zigbee devices into M3 firstly, and then you can add M3 to Alexa via Matter or account link. And then Zigbee devices will be added in Alexa automatically. (You must have an Alexa Hub firstly).

Yes, my ST hub is an Aeotec V3. I have several Matter devices paired to it, including the other two Aqara hubs.

I am willing to pair the M3 to Alexa using Matter, but I was hoping the skill would pick it up like it did everything else. I don’t have any Zigbee or Thread accessories paired to the M3 yet though. I’ll add some today.

In the Aqara Home app, when you click the “Matter” button of the device page of the M3, the device will be in the pairing state for 10 minutes. During this period you can use ST app to scan the Matter QR code

Thanks. I have the hub in Smartthings now.

So then, the question just remains about Alexa. Both of the sensors that I paired to the M3 seem to have come into Alexa, so that’s good. I’m guessing that means any light strips I move to the M3 will also appear in Alexa. I’ll try that soon. Maybe there aren’t any functions on the M3 itself that Alexa can use, so there isn’t a reason it needs to be in there.

Yes, M3 itself has no functions can be used in Alexa
