Hey everyone!
I’m a new member of this amazing community and I wanted to share my recent experiences with setting up my smart home. I’ve been using Insteon for a while now, but I recently decided to switch to Vera, and it’s been quite the learning curve!
So, my main goal was to create a scene that would turn on my outdoor lights before sunset and turn them off later in the evening. I ended up creating four scenes for two lights, which feels a bit overwhelming. I’m trying to figure out how to group these scenes so I can activate them with just one button press or from my phone app. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated! ![]()
Another challenge I faced was integrating my Fibaro devices. I have a Fibaro dimmer and a 2x1.5kW relay, and I’m trying to link the switch of Key No. 2 on the dimmer to control Key No. 2 on the relay. It worked for Key No. 1, but Key No. 2 just doesn’t seem to respond. I’m not sure if this is a limitation or if there’s a workaround. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear your insights!
On a more positive note, I did manage to set up my Shelly 1 to control my outdoor lights!
The only issue I’m facing now is a slight delay in the state update—about 20 seconds. I’m using a Unifi network, and the Shelly has a solid connection. I wonder if there’s a way to reduce this delay or if it’s just a known quirk with the Shelly devices.
One thing I’ve learned is the importance of community support. Whether it’s troubleshooting scenes, integrating devices, or dealing with unexpected behaviors, having a supportive community like this makes all the difference. I’m really grateful to everyone who shares their knowledge and experiences here!
If anyone has advice on streamlining my scenes, fixing the Fibaro association issue, or reducing the Shelly delay, I’m all ears!
I’m also curious to hear how others have successfully integrated multiple devices and created efficient routines. Let’s learn and grow together! ![]()
