Optimizing Camera Detection Zones and Light Strip Customization

I’ve been diving into optimizing my smart home setup lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with the community. First off, I’ve been really impressed with how customizable the Govee LED light strips are, especially the new M1 model. The upgraded chipset and higher lumens definitely make a difference in lighting quality, and I’m curious to hear others’ thoughts on whether the price hike is worth it. I’ve been using mine in my bathroom, and the natural lighting is a game-changer!

On another note, I’ve been working on fine-tuning my camera detection zones. The new update to camera v2 seems to have changed how detection zones are set up, making it necessary to choose a wider swath instead of the smaller, more precise boxes I used before. While this is great for broader monitoring, it’s leading to a lot of false alerts from things like blowing branches or pets darting around. I’d love to know if there’s a way to reintroduce the smaller box zones or at least have more granular control within the wider zone to eliminate some areas from triggering alerts.

I’ve also been exploring Node-RED for automating my lighting setup. I’ve got a mix of older GE switches and newer Zooz switches, and while I’ve managed to get some flows working, I’m running into issues with others, particularly with flows that involve turning lights on and off. The flows either don’t trigger correctly or end up in a loop, which is pretty frustrating. If anyone has tips on troubleshooting these kinds of triggers, I’d be grateful for the advice!

Lastly, I wanted to mention the excellent support I’ve received from the Govee community. Their customer service has been top-notch, and I’m excited to see what new products they’ll release in the coming months. It’s always inspiring to see how others are creatively integrating these devices into their homes.

If anyone has insights on any of these topics or just wants to share their own smart home projects, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s keep the ideas flowing.
