Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with optimizing the placement of my Wyze Cam V3 Pro for better home security. As many of you might know, placing a camera can sometimes be tricky, especially if you want to cover specific areas without picking up too much unnecessary movement.
Initially, I had my camera positioned near a window about six feet from my front door. While it did capture some activity, it wasn’t ideal. I noticed that it would often detect cars passing by, which wasn’t very useful, and at night, glare from nearby lights made the footage unusable. Plus, delivery drivers rarely stepped onto the porch, so the camera wasn’t capturing the package drop-offs I was hoping for.
After some research and trial and error, I decided to mount the camera directly above the front door. This position not only covers the porch area effectively but also reduces the chances of cars triggering the motion sensor. I also adjusted the detection zone settings to ignore the driveway and focus solely on the porch. The difference has been remarkable!
Now, I get clear notifications when someone approaches the door, and the camera’s night vision has improved the footage quality significantly. It’s been a great help for keeping an eye on package deliveries without the constant false alarms.
For anyone else struggling with camera placement, I’d recommend experimenting with different angles and heights. Also, don’t hesitate to tweak the detection zones and motion sensitivity settings in the Wyze app. A little adjustment can make a big difference!
Happy smart home tweaking!
