The holiday season is just around the corner, and I wanted to share my experience in creating a sensor template to automate my Christmas lights. Last year, my setup was quite basic, but this year, I aimed to make it more dynamic and efficient.
Here’s what I did: I set up a sensor template based on now().day and now().month to ensure the lights come on from late November through early January. The goal was to have them activate automatically during this period, adding a festive touch to my home.
However, I encountered a few challenges along the way, especially with the and and or conditions in the template. After some trial and error, I managed to get it working smoothly. The lights now turn on from November 25th to January 5th, providing a warm glow throughout the holiday season.
