Optimizing Dahua Camera Integration with Frigate and Double Take

Hey everyone, I’m really excited to share my experience with Dahua cameras and how I’m trying to integrate them with Frigate and Double Take for a seamless security setup. :rocket:

I’ve been using Dahua’s 8MP AI cameras for a while now, and I must say, their human and vehicle detection is top-notch. In the past three months, I’ve barely seen any false positives, which is a huge plus. However, I’ve noticed that Frigate, while excellent, still throws in 1-3 false positives per week per camera. That’s where I thought, why not leverage the Dahua cameras’ AI capabilities to feed detections into Frigate and Double Take? :brain:

Here’s the plan: Use the binary sensors from Dahua’s integration to trigger detections in Frigate, bypassing its object detection to eliminate those pesky false positives. The goal is to create a ‘person detected’ event that can then trigger Double Take for facial recognition. Sounds smooth, right? :male_detective::male_sign:

I’ve been working on setting up Double Take with Deepstack, using MQTT events from Frigate. The challenge now is figuring out how to forward Dahua’s detections to Frigate without relying on its object detection. Has anyone tackled this before? Any tips or workarounds would be super helpful!

Would love to hear if others have successfully integrated Dahua cameras with Frigate and Double Take. Let’s brainstorm and make this setup even better! :bulb:

Cheers,
