As someone who’s deeply interested in optimizing energy usage, I’ve been exploring various smart home solutions to make my home more efficient. One of the most interesting projects I’ve undertaken is integrating a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) into my smart home setup. While it’s been a great addition for protecting my devices during power outages, I noticed that it significantly increased my overall energy consumption. After some research and adjustments, I managed to balance functionality with efficiency, and I’d love to share my experience with the community.
I’ve also been experimenting with the DSMR integration in Home Assistant to monitor my energy consumption in real-time. By adjusting the update interval and analyzing the data, I’ve been able to identify peak usage times and implement strategies to reduce waste. This integration has been incredibly helpful, especially for those of us looking to make informed decisions about our energy usage.
Another project I’ve been working on is creating a custom widget for controlling my Yeelight bulbs. While the standard controls work well, I wanted something more intuitive and visually appealing. After some trial and error, I developed a widget that allows me to adjust brightness, color, and temperature with just a few taps. It’s been a fantastic learning experience, and I’d love to hear what others think about it!
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tackled similar projects or has tips for optimizing energy consumption in a smart home setup. Let’s continue to share ideas and innovations to make our homes smarter and more sustainable!
