I’ve been on a journey to optimize my smart home automation, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips with the community. 
My goal has been to create a seamless experience, especially when leaving the house. I recently optimized my away flow, which now includes random delays for lights to turn on, ensuring a more natural and secure environment. I’ve also been working on integrating multiple brands, which can sometimes be a challenge, but it’s been rewarding to see everything work together smoothly. 
One of the tricks I’ve learned is to use variables and random timers effectively. For instance, setting a random delay between 1-7 hours for lights to turn on after sunset adds an extra layer of security without being too predictable. I’ve also discovered how to handle Modbus scanning by setting time windows, which helps avoid sensor timeouts and keeps my logs clean. 
However, not everything has been smooth sailing. I’ve encountered issues with certain devices, like the Google Nest camera, where entering the serial number during setup was tricky. Thankfully, reaching out to the community and finding workarounds helped me overcome these hurdles.
