Optimizing PV Surplus with Battery Automation

I’ve been diving into optimizing my solar energy setup, and I wanted to share my journey and some insights I’ve gained along the way. One of the key aspects I’ve been focusing on is automating my battery charging to make the most of my PV surplus.

The goal I set for myself was to trigger an automation when my battery’s charge level drops from 100% to 99%. This would allow me to capture that small window of surplus energy effectively. However, I ran into a bit of a snag with the automation rules available. Initially, it seemed like the system would trigger not just at 99%, but also at subsequent drops, which wasn’t exactly what I wanted.

After some research and experimentation, I realized that adjusting the trigger conditions and using a combination of state changes and delays could help achieve the desired behavior. It’s been a learning process, but seeing the system respond as intended has been really rewarding.

If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing battery automation, I’d love to hear them! It’s always great to learn from others’ experiences in the community. :sun_with_face:
