I’ve been exploring ways to enhance my smart home’s energy monitoring capabilities, and I came across some interesting solutions that I’d love to share and discuss with the community.
Recently, I’ve been looking into multi-function digital meters that can provide comprehensive energy data using IEC 61850 standards. While the ION9000 is a solid option, I’m curious if there are more cost-effective alternatives that still deliver reliable performance. Anyone have experience with other meters that fit this criteria?
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with the Shelly 3EM energy monitor. It’s been a great addition to my setup, but I noticed an issue where it wasn’t registering current properly on one of my circuits. After some troubleshooting, I realized the phase connections might have been mixed up. For anyone else experiencing similar issues, I’d recommend double-checking the phase assignments in the Shelly app. It’s a simple fix that can save a lot of frustration!
I’d love to hear about others’ experiences with energy monitoring devices. What challenges have you faced, and how did you overcome them? Are there any hidden gems or underrated devices that deserve more attention? Let’s keep the conversation flowing and help each other optimize our smart home setups! ![]()
