Optimizing Smart Home Integration: My Journey with Multiple Devices

I’ve been on a fascinating journey integrating various smart home devices, and I’d love to share my experiences and insights with the community.

Starting with my Samsung S23, I’ve been experimenting with capturing ultra-high-resolution photos programmatically. While the native apps handle this seamlessly, achieving the same through custom code has been a challenge. I explored Camera2 and CameraX APIs but found they don’t support 200MP resolution. This led me to consider the Samsung Camera SDK or launching the camera app via intents. It’s been a great learning experience, and I’d love to hear if others have found solutions or workarounds for this!

Another area I’ve been focusing on is monitoring multiple thermostats for extreme temperatures. Currently, I can only monitor one at a time, which is a limitation, especially with three thermostats in my home. I’d appreciate any advice on how to extend this functionality or if there’s a workaround within the Alarm.com system.

On the topic of power management, I’ve been using a 1200W UPS to safeguard my coffee machine during genset changeovers. While it works, I’ve encountered an online overload alarm when the power demand exceeds 1200W. I’m curious to know if others have faced similar issues and how they’ve resolved them without upgrading to a higher-rated unit.

Lastly, I’ve been exploring the integration of Wyze cameras with Alexa devices. Despite my efforts, the cameras aren’t recognized by my Alexa Show devices. I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully connected Wyze cameras and what steps they took.

This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, and I’m eager to learn from others’ experiences. Let’s continue to share tips, tricks, and stories to help each other optimize our smart homes!
