Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with optimizing sunset trigger times for different rooms in my smart home setup. I’ve been using a fantastic app that allows me to offset sunset and sunrise triggers globally, which is already a huge improvement over the limited options in the Hue app. However, I noticed that some rooms in my house get darker much faster than others, so I decided to take it a step further and adjust the trigger times individually for each room.
Here’s how I approached it: I started by setting up a sunset routine that triggers multiple lights across different rooms. I then realized that the default sunset time didn’t account for the varying light conditions in each room. To solve this, I looked into the app’s settings and found that while global offsets are available, individual adjustments weren’t directly supported.
After some research and experimentation, I discovered a workaround by creating separate routines for each room with their own sunset triggers. For example, I set one room’s lights to turn on 15 minutes earlier and another to turn on 10 minutes later relative to the standard sunset time. This adjustment ensured that each room’s lighting matched the natural light conditions perfectly, eliminating any unnecessary brightness or darkness.
This solution not only improved the overall comfort of my home but also reduced energy waste by ensuring lights were only on when needed. It was a bit of a trial-and-error process, but the end result was well worth the effort. I’d love to hear if anyone else has tackled a similar problem or has tips for fine-tuning their own sunset routines!
