Optimizing Temperature Sensor Automation for a Cozy Home

Optimizing Temperature Sensor Automation for a Cozy Home

Hi everyone,

I’ve been really enjoying setting up my smart home, and one of the features I’m most excited about is automating my temperature and humidity sensors. I installed a sensor in my baby’s room to keep track of the environment, and it’s been working great. I set up an automation to notify me when the humidity goes above 70%, which is crucial for preventing mold growth.

However, I noticed that the notifications were coming in during the morning, which I found a bit annoying. I wanted the automation to run only during specific times when the baby is asleep. So, I decided to add a time condition to the automation, setting it to trigger between 4 PM and 1 AM. Additionally, I wanted the notification to activate only if the humidity remained above 70% for more than 45 minutes to avoid false alerts.

I configured the conditions in my automation rule, but to my surprise, I wasn’t receiving any notifications even when the humidity was consistently high during the specified time frame. I checked the daily graph of the sensor readings, and it clearly showed that the humidity was above 70% during the set times. This was puzzling, and I wasn’t sure where the issue was.

After some research and troubleshooting, I realized that the way the time condition was set up might be causing the problem. I adjusted the automation rule to ensure that the time window and the duration condition were correctly configured. Once I made these changes, the notifications started working as expected.

This experience taught me the importance of carefully reviewing and testing automation rules, especially when dealing with multiple conditions. It also highlighted how valuable these sensors can be in maintaining a comfortable and healthy living environment for my family.

I’d love to hear how others have set up their temperature and humidity sensors and if they’ve encountered similar challenges. Sharing tips and tricks always helps us improve our smart home setups!
