Optimizing the Nest Hub 2 Dashboard: Layout Tips and Tricks

I’ve been working on creating the perfect dashboard for my Google Nest Hub 2, and I wanted to share my journey and some tips that might help others who are tackling similar challenges. While I’m pretty happy with how it looks, I’ve been trying to squeeze in an extra column to display more information without overcrowding the screen.

I started by using the Amoled theme to create a sleek black background, which really helps with visibility. For the cards, I’m using the excellent Flex Horsehoe Card and the Lovelace Layout Card to adjust the size and spacing. Initially, I found it a bit tricky to get everything to fit just right, especially since the Horseshoe card is quite large by default.

One thing I discovered is that adding extra random cards and moving them around can help force the layout to adjust in ways that aren’t immediately obvious. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it’s been effective so far. I’m currently using three custom:vertical-layout cards for the Horseshoe cards, placing two in each layout card to keep things organized.

The biggest challenge has been figuring out how to add that third column without making the dashboard look cluttered. I’ve tried several approaches, including adjusting the card sizes and experimenting with different spacing settings. While I haven’t cracked the code completely yet, I’m getting closer, and each tweak feels like progress.

If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing the layout on the Nest Hub 2, I’d love to hear them! Whether it’s about card sizing, spacing, or clever workarounds, every bit of advice helps. Happy dashboarding! :art:
