I’ve been experimenting with the Wyze Cam V2 and wanted to share some tips for reducing false alarms, especially with the person detection feature. After setting up my camera, I noticed frequent false positives due to shadows and tree movements. Here’s what I found helpful:
-
Adjust the Detection Zone: Instead of covering the entire frame, I created a smaller box focusing on the entryway. This reduced the number of false triggers from distant shadows.
-
Lower Motion Sensitivity: I initially had it at 75%, but dropping it to 1% made a big difference without missing actual detections.
-
Placement Matters: Positioning the camera to avoid direct sunlight and away from bushes helped minimize unnecessary alerts.
-
Person Detection Settings: Enabling person detection alongside motion helped filter out non-human movements effectively.
-
Firmware Updates: Ensuring the camera is on the latest firmware has improved detection accuracy over time.
These adjustments have made my setup much more reliable. I’d love to hear other strategies or experiences people have had with their Wyze Cams! ![]()
