Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with using Wyze sensors for outdoor motion detection. While they aren’t weatherproof, I found a clever workaround that’s been working great for me!
First, I considered placing the sensor near a window to detect motion outside. However, I was worried about the sensor’s durability in harsh weather conditions. After some research and experimentation, I decided to mount the sensor in a sheltered spot where it wouldn’t be directly exposed to rain or sunlight. I used a small, waterproof box to protect it and positioned it where it could still detect motion at the front door.
To my delight, the sensor has been holding up well even in high humidity. The detection range is impressive, and it reliably picks up motion without false alarms. I’ve integrated it with my smart home system, so it triggers lights and notifications when someone approaches the door.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has additional tips for outdoor sensor placement. It’s been a fun project, and I’m thrilled with how it’s enhanced my home security!
Cheers,
