I’ve just installed a P1 Motion sensor and successfully linked it to my G410 doorbell hub. In the Aqara app it shows both motion & illumination. I then added it to my Home Assistant setup via Matter. In HA it does not show the illuminance entity. It shows Occupancy and a number of battery entities.
Currently, it is not possible to retrieve the value from P1 via the Matter Bridge. Aqara would need to integrate this into the Hubs’ firmware.
In theory, it is possible to read the CurrentIlluminance value via the Aqara Open API, but I’m not sure if there is anything available for Home Assistant that can do that.
Even if it were possible, you would soon realise that the displayed lux value is usually inaccurate because the P1 only updates it when the sensor detects movement.
For Home Assistant, I would recommend the Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2. As the G410 hub is also a Thread border router, you can connect the sensor to it.
However, it’s important to note that the P1 and P2 only measure up to 1,500 lux. In contrast, the FP2 can measure over 100,000 lux.
