In the description of the P100 it says the sensor can detect the opening and closing of a door. Will it work with a garage roller door if mounted just to
the side of it?
Door monitoring mode works for “hinged objects” as the description says.
For roller doors, you might use “object monitoring mode” and enable “orientation” event.
You will be able to detect if the P100 changes orientation from vertical to horizontal - it can be used to detect if the roller door is open/closed.
Hi, I use the P100 sensor with my electrically operated garage door.My current setup is:Object Protection enabledOrientation and Movement detection enabledOne improvement I would love to see is the option to display a garage door animation or icon instead of plain text.I also hope, or rather believe, that Aqara might surprise us in the future by releasing a dedicated garage door controller with an integrated sensor. That would be a great addition to the Aqara ecosystem.Fingers crossed for all of us!

I certainly agree on the dedicated device for a garage door. However, just being able to correctly name what is set up would help.
Currently I use the Aqara T2 relay. Yes it works fine and I can use a camera in my garage to double check the door has closed, or opened. What I cannot do is tell HomeKit it’s not an on/off switch but an open and close one. Thus if I use Siri I have to say “Siri Car Door Off” to open the door and “Car Door On” to close it. This seems crackers.
I have a P100 coming today and will try some of the suggestions. I clearly cannot fix the P100 to the roller door itself. I may have to make do with what the switch tells me in the app - when it is in on or off, plus a camera.
The Aqara Door and Window Sensor allows you to change the type of sensor and icon displayed to Blinds, Contact Sensor, Door, Garage Door or Window.
It’s less expensive and works very well.
