Pairing Aqara devices to third party hubs

Does anyone have a tried and true method for this? I use a Hubitat C7 as my hub for everything, and Aqara zigbee devices for anything intermittent/low power (temperature, motion, door/window, etc). I’ve found that holding the button down for three seconds and crossing my fingers works maybe 50% of the time. The other 50% I end up doing a random combination of holding down the button, pressing the button, praying to the gods, and cursing until it pairs.

Any advice on a tried and true method for pairing to third party hubs?

@noel_brian Pairing Aqara devices with third-party hubs can indeed be a bit of a challenge. According to the reference information, Aqara hubs and the Aqara Home app primarily support Aqara or third-party Matter devices and do not officially support third-party Zigbee devices. This could be why you’re experiencing inconsistent results with your Hubitat C7.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a documented method from Aqara for pairing their devices with non-Aqara hubs like the Hubitat C7, which may result in the hit-or-miss pairing process you described. Some users have shared that patience and multiple attempts sometimes help, but this isn’t an official or guaranteed solution.

I recommend checking online forums or reaching out within the Aqara Smart Home community, where other users might have specific insights or workarounds that have worked for them. Your experience and any successful methods you discover would also be a valuable contribution to the community!

The upcoming W600 TRV has dual Matter and ZigBee. Maybe this will be easier to connect to Hubitat?
