Panel Switch S100 cannot link to G410 camera which is a hub?

Is it true that the new Panel Switch S100 can only link to M3 Hub an not the new G410 doorbell which is a hub (Zigbee and Matter) in and of itself?

I bot 3 S100 panel switch and they cant see my doorbell g410 which is my primary hub for the home at the moment.

If this is true, this is a major bummer as the aqara newest and greatest cannot work with each other…

Yeah, I’ve noticed some odd limitations like that too. From what I understand, the G410 does have Zigbee and Matter, but not all device pairing types are supported yet – so certain products still require the M3 (or older) hub for full functionality.

It’s definitely strange that two of the newest Aqara devices can’t talk directly. Hopefully they’ll push a firmware update to fix this, since it feels like it should be possible.

Have you tried reaching out to Aqara support to see if there’s a planned update or workaround?

I have not reached out to support yet as I am still busy in programming everything else in my smart home.

I also found out that not only the S100 panel switch, even the Magic Panel S1E is the same. That is, not everything is supported and there is no mention of such limitation anywhere.

For example, I just tried creating light groups and switch groups for areas in my home. And none of the device groups will show up as devices when setting up the panel screens as devices, when the device groups contains switches on ANY OF THE magic panels. When device groups are formed with only devices on regular aqara switchs (H1/Z1 Pros) they show up correctly as devices when setting up the panel screens…

For now I have to work around using scenes assigned to the screen keys (or one of the 6 wireless switches on the panels) but this is awkward and can’t really work as toggles, nor do they show the current state of the lights…

That’s really useful info – thanks for sharing all those details! Sounds like the limitation is even broader than I thought, especially with the S1E panels also being affected.

The way you’re working around it with scenes makes sense, but I agree it’s not ideal without state feedback or proper toggle behavior. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a smart panel in the first place.

I wonder if Aqara is planning to unify the device group handling across all panels and hubs – it feels like a software-side limitation rather than a hardware one. If they do, it could fix a lot of these compatibility gaps in one go.

Hello @mlaihk @nikolasklimcak

S1e and S100 are wifi devices (I know that S100 has zigbee) and no hub is needed to connect them, they are simply added via wifi. If we are talking about video streaming, then first of all this is a switch with extended functionality, but not a display for viewing cameras or a video stream, like S1 plus and pro. S1e and S100 are created primarily to control light, climate, curtains, but not as a monitor for video cameras.

Has the S1100 been released yet? Haven’t seen it in the UK to try it out.

Actually, the S100 DOES NOT have zigbee. I need to connect to a hub to control zigbee devices. And in the settings of the S100 via the Aqara App, there is a “Hub” setting which allows the S100 to bind to a hub. Very little information of what that setting does is available.

I understand the S100/S1E are wifi devices which by themselves will not need a hub to function.

S100 has Zigbee, not for connecting the panel itself, but for controlling devices if the main hub fails. You can read about it at the link below.

I see. So if i understand you correctly, when the S100 is set to the M3 Hub, and if internet goes does, I can still control Zigbee devices bound to the M3 Hub if internet or wifi goes down, right? Will try this when I have a chance.

That seems to only work with the M3 Hub on my home and not the G410 doorbell hub…
