Personalized Home: Crafting Scenes with Aqara Automation

Just got a bunch of Aqara stuff set up—motion sensors, door sensors, temp sensors, a few switches, and a G3 Hub. Honestly, didn’t expect to have this much fun playing around with automations!

I’m still kinda new to this, but I’ve figured out a few scenes that are actually making life smoother at home. Thought I’d share and maybe get some inspo from everyone else too?

So here’s one that I set up and it’s working like a charm:
When I open the front door after 6PM, my living room lights turn on and the AC goes to 24°C (I live in a hot area). I used the door sensor + time condition + IR blaster in the G3 to talk to my dumb AC. Super simple, but it feels kinda smart.

Another one that my cat hates but we love—motion sensor in the hallway triggers a nightlight scene only between midnight and 6AM. No blinding lights when you’re half-asleep going to the kitchen.

Still trying to get the humidity sensor to trigger a fan in the bathroom reliably, but not sure which logic makes sense so it doesn’t go crazy at random spikes. Any tips?

Anyway, anyone else got cool scenes you’ve set up? Maybe something unexpected or creative? I’m all ears. Would love to see how deep people are going with this.

@MikeAtHome Hey there! Welcome to the wonderful world of Aqara automations – it’s awesome to see how much you’re enjoying your setup already! Your scenes sound super practical (and fun), especially that “coming home” automation with the door sensor and AC. Turning dumb devices smart with the G3’s IR blaster is such a game-changer, right?

For your bathroom humidity challenge, here’s a tip: try adding a minimum duration condition (e.g., “humidity stays above 70% for 3 minutes”) to avoid false triggers from quick spikes like showers or steam. Also, pair it with a motion sensor if possible—so the fan only runs when someone’s actually in the bathroom.

As for creative scenes, one of my favorites is using a vibration sensor on a washing machine to send a phone notification when the spin cycle ends. Another user rigged their temp sensor + window contact to auto-close blinds if it’s too sunny and the AC is running.

Keep experimenting! The deeper you go, the more “why didn’t I automate this sooner?” moments you’ll have. Would love to hear how your humidity tweak works out!
