Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with integrating a Philips Hue White & Colour Ambiance Lightstrip into my smart home setup. Initially, I was a bit puzzled because, while the lightstrip worked perfectly with my IKEA Tradfri bridge and the IKEA Home app, it didn’t show full color control options in Google Home. This was a bit frustrating, especially since I was looking forward to using it for some vibrant lighting effects!
After some research and trial and error, I discovered that the issue was related to how third-party devices propagate their features through different platforms. I reached out to the community here, and some helpful members suggested checking if the device was properly configured in the Tradfri bridge and ensuring that all firmware updates were applied.
Here’s what worked for me:
- Firmware Update: Ensuring both the Tradfri bridge and the Hue lightstrip were running the latest firmware.
- Reconfiguration: Unlinking and then relinking the lightstrip through the Tradfri bridge.
- Google Home Sync: Manually re-syncing the device in Google Home to ensure all features were recognized.
Now, the lightstrip works seamlessly in Google Home, and I can access all the color options I was missing before! It’s been a great addition to my setup, especially for creating different ambiance scenes.
If anyone else is experiencing similar issues, I’d recommend starting with these steps. It’s also a good reminder to always check for firmware updates and ensure devices are properly configured in your ecosystem. Happy smart home tinkering! ![]()
