Hey everyone, I just wanted to share my experience with the Philips Hue Dimmer. I recently encountered an issue where my dimmer stopped responding after deleting and re-adding it through MQTT. At first, I was a bit puzzled, but after some troubleshooting, I figured out the solution and thought I’d share it in case anyone else runs into the same problem.
So, the issue started when I decided to test an add-on (Switch Manager) and, in the process, accidentally deleted my Hue Dimmer from MQTT. After re-adding it, the device wasn’t responding to any button presses, even though it was recognized in MQTT. I was a bit worried, but I remembered reading somewhere that sometimes devices need a fresh start.
I decided to try a hard reset on the dimmer by holding down the on/off button for about 10 seconds until the LED started blinking. Then, I re-added it through the app, and voilà! It started working again. I was so relieved!
If anyone else is facing this issue, here are a few tips:
- Always make sure to save your configurations before making changes.
- If a device stops responding, try a hard reset or factory reset.
- Check for any firmware updates for your device, as they can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
I hope this helps someone out there! It’s always a bit stressful when devices stop working, but with a little patience and troubleshooting, most issues can be resolved. Happy smart home tinkering! ![]()
