Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip Setup for Monitor | Smart Home Integration Tips

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and it’s been an incredible journey! One of the most exciting projects I’ve undertaken is setting up a Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip for my 27-inch monitor. While the process has been smooth overall, I wanted to share my experience and ask for some advice from the community.

My Setup

I’m using a 27-inch Samsung monitor (LS27DG602SUXUF) and wanted to create an ambilight-style setup using the Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip. Unfortunately, the 24–27 inch Hue Gradient version is no longer available in my country, so I opted for the 2-meter Gradient Lightstrip instead.

Here’s how I planned to install it:

  • Wrap around the left, top, and right sides
  • No bottom coverage
  • Fold the excess length on the top back side of the monitor

Questions & Concerns

  1. Is the 2m strip too much for a 27” monitor? I’m curious if this setup is common or if there’s a better way to achieve the desired effect.
  2. Will folding the excess strip affect performance? I’m worried about how this might impact the gradient smoothness or Hue Sync functionality.
  3. Any potential downsides? I’d love to hear if anyone has experienced issues with similar setups.

What I’ve Learned So Far

  • Placement Matters: The way the strip is positioned can significantly affect the lighting effect. I’m still experimenting with the optimal placement to ensure even coverage.
  • Folding the Strip: While it’s a bit tricky, folding the excess length seems manageable. I’ll update the community once I’ve finalized the setup!

Looking for Feedback

If anyone has experience with a similar setup or has tips for optimizing the Gradient Lightstrip, I’d be thrilled to hear from you! Real-world experiences and advice would be invaluable as I fine-tune this project.

Let’s make this setup as seamless and effective as possible! :rocket:
