In a year I have to replace my Nest Protects. I really want a good matter/thread replacement for them as I’m now completely in the Apple Home world. I also have a preference for Aqara devices where I can so please make a suitable device in the next year! there is a real gap in the market here.

Yes!!! I’m also on the hunt for a HomeKit and Matter compatible smoke and carbon monoxide detector.
Aqara, PLEASE create this! 
Extra points if you build an ambient status light directly into the detector that shines upward onto the ceiling, creating a soft glow in different colors depending on the status.
Normal = subtle ambient glow (blue)
Warning = attention color (amber)
Emergency = full alert mode (red)
It would be functional, beautiful, and very Aqara. Smart safety does not have to look boring.

I love how Aqara keeps iterating on locks, cameras etc, but this is probably the thing I want to see updated the most, the Smoke/CO Alarm!
There previous product had limited reach for markets sold, so lets get a worldwide Matter over Thread version that has a good speaker, lighting, temp/humidity/smoke/CO/presence etc.
I personally have put several FP2s or FP300s near where I already have smoke detectors → integrate it all into one amazing thing. Sure you’d have to replace it all in 10yrs, but the tech for all the other sensors will have improved by then too…
