Ports / protocols for Aqara app?

Hi all, sorry if this is the wrong place for this. I just posted in Homekit about my issues with PTZ on the G3.

TLDR: I’d like to control PTZ via Homekit - I have a messy workaround but it’s not ideal. I want to monitor my dogs from Home but my work Firewall is incredibly strict. Somehow HomeKit commands get through but not the Aqara app…

I tried to snifff which DNS calls the app might be making and as far as I can tell the domains and IPs themselves aren’t blocked by the firewall. Is there anything else I should be looking for to see how they’re blocking the app connection requests? Does anyone know which ports or protocols the Aqara app uses and whether it’s those which might be blocked rather than the domains themselves?

Thanks a lot. Please don’t spend time on this, just seeing if anyone already knows!!

@4xgwvbbnh2 It seems like you’re facing some challenges with your work firewall while trying to control PTZ via HomeKit using the Aqara app. Although the reference information provided does not specifically mention the ports and protocols used by the Aqara app, there are a few things you might consider:

  1. Protocols: From general knowledge, Aqara devices often use protocols like ZigBee and Wi-Fi for communication. These protocols should work with HomeKit, as you’ve mentioned HomeKit commands are getting through.

  2. App Communication: It’s possible that the Aqara app requires specific ports or protocols that are being blocked by your firewall. Common ports for app communications typically include TCP ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS), but specific apps might use additional or different ports.

  3. Firewall Rules: You might need to check if there are specific firewall rules blocking certain types of outgoing connections. This could include ports other than the ones typically used by HomeKit.

  4. Network Configuration: Ensure your network configuration allows for the Aqara app to communicate over the necessary protocols. As per the reference, Aqara hubs and cameras support various communication protocols, like ZigBee, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

I’m sorry I couldn’t provide more detailed information directly from the reference materials. However, I encourage you to engage with the community here, as fellow users might have encountered similar issues and found solutions. If you continue to face difficulties, reaching out to Aqara’s technical support might provide more specific guidance. Good luck with your setup, and feel free to share any further insights you discover!
