Positive Experience with Shelly Plus 1 PM and Z-Wave Switch Troubleshooting

I wanted to share my positive experience with the Shelly Plus 1 PM and some troubleshooting tips I encountered with my Z-Wave switches. :star2:

I recently set up the Shelly Plus 1 PM to control my bathroom fan, and it’s been a game-changer! Using the Shelly app, I programmed it to turn on for 3 minutes whenever I say, ‘Alexa, activate the bathroom fan.’ It works like a charm, and it’s so satisfying to see it automatically turn off after the set time. The integration with Alexa has been seamless, and I love how it contributes to a more efficient home environment.

However, I did run into some issues with my Z-Wave switches. After adding a second HomeSeer Z-Wave+ dimmer switch, I noticed that one of the switches would go offline, and the other wouldn’t respond to commands. This was puzzling because the first switch was working perfectly before adding the second one.

After some research and troubleshooting, I discovered that the issue might be related to network stability. I tried resetting the Z-Wave controller and the switches, which temporarily fixed the problem. However, the issue resurfaced a few days later. I then decided to update the Z-Wave binding and the firmware on my Raspberry Pi, which seemed to resolve the problem. It’s been a week now, and both switches are functioning without any hiccups!

For anyone else dealing with Z-Wave issues, here are a few tips:

  • Check the firmware: Ensure your Z-Wave controller and switches are running the latest firmware.
  • Network stability: Make sure your Z-Wave network is stable and free from interference.
  • Reset and re-pair: Sometimes, resetting the controller and re-pairing the devices can work wonders.

Overall, my experience with both the Shelly Plus 1 PM and the Z-Wave switches has been mostly positive. It’s all about persistence and a bit of troubleshooting when things don’t go as planned.

If you’re looking to automate your home, I highly recommend exploring Shelly devices and Z-Wave solutions—they’ve definitely added a touch of smart living to my home! :house_with_garden::sparkles:
